Thank you for your support of the 2025 Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Hanmadang July 17-19, 2025.  We are looking forward to seeing you in a few days!  Please review the list of important details below:

All participants, coaches, VIPS, Para Aides must pick up his or her badge.  Beginning Thursday July 17th, a badge or spectator ticket is required prior to entering the Anaheim Convention Center Arena.

We strongly encourage all participants to pick up badges on Wednesday July 16th to avoid long wait times and allow time for any necessary corrections.  If you cannot pick up your badge on Wednesday, you can pick it up any day July 17-19, 2025.

3. Participant Badge Pickup

Participants (or parents) should bring a copy of the email confirmation receipt of registration and Identification card.  At the badge pickup each athlete must confirm that all information on the badge is correct.  If there is a mistake such as the wrong gender, belt rank, or mistake by the organizing committee, the badge will be corrected and re-printed at no additional cost.  A participant cannot simply change the event if he/she changes his/her mind on what event they want to participant in.

If absolutely necessary, a coach can pick up all athletes participant badges.  However, at the time of pickup, the coach must sign off that the badge is correct and no changes can be made.

Pre-ordered online spectator tickets and pre-ordered Saturday Gala tickets can be picked up with the participant badges.

4. Division Numbers on Participant badges

All participants will receive a badge.  On each badge there will be a 4-digit division number.

The first 2 numbers are the ring number that the division will be held in.  EXAMPLE: 0101 = ring 1.  The second 2 numbers are the division number.  EXAMPLE: 0101 = Division 1 in ring 1

There are certain events that require the athlete to wear a white uniform and black collar.  Please see the official rule packet Frequently Asked Questions #16 for the full list.

There will be a star in front of the division code for the events that require a white dobok with a black collar.  EXAMPLE:  *ITFE – 0101

White doboks with a black collar can be purchased from the official martial art supply company AAMA at the Anaheim Convention Center.

5. Schedule

A more detailed schedule of which events are in the morning and which in the afternoon will be released by Wed July 16, 2025.

6. Participant Flow of the Tournament

Picking up the participant badge is NOT checking in to compete.  Participants are required to go to the Holding Area and check-in when his or her division is called to compete.  There will be TV monitors outside of the holding area as well as announcements made to indicate which divisions need to go to the holding area.  Once a participant goes into the holding area he or she should not leave.  Coaches are expected to go into the holding area at the same time as his/her athlete.

The participant will be called a maximum of three (3) times to appear in the Holding Area.  If a participant does not appear in the Holding Area after the maximum of three (3) times to appear, the participant will be disqualified from the competition with no refund.  The only exception to this is if the participant is already on the competition floor competing in a different division.  The Organizing Committee will not hold a division from competing if waiting for a coach.

After an athlete competes on the competition floor, a ring runner will take the division of athletes back to the award podium to receive his/her medal and award certificate.  Parents can pick up his/her child at the award podium

If a participant is competing in more than one event, he or she needs to follow the same process of checking in at the holding area when his/her division is called.

7. Weapons Check

All weapons used for competition must be imitation (fake).  All blades must be dull.  Prior to entry, all weapons must be checked and approved by the organizing committee.  The weapons check will take place inside the arena on Wed. July 16th.  Weapons check will take place at the box office outside the arena July 17th-19th.

8. Spectator Tickets

All discounted pre-orders for spectator tickets is closed.  If you did not purchase online you can purchase anytime listed in the above badge pickup time schedule.

Children 3 and under are FREE only if they will be sitting on someone’s lap.  If they require a seat, you will need to pay for an additional ticket. Unfortunately, there is NO price difference for Adult and Child tickets.  Ages 4 and above:

There will be a credit processing fee for spectator ticket purchases.  You can save time and money by bringing cash.

9. Food at the Anaheim Convention Center

Outside food and beverage is not allowed in the Anaheim Convention Center.  Re-fillable water bottles are allowed.  There will be 2 concessions stands inside and 2 food trucks outside.

10. Award Podium Photography

Cell phones, cameras and camcorders are STRICTLY PROHIBITED from the award area.  All cell phones, cameras, or camcorders in this area are subject to confiscation.  Pictures CAN be taken from any spectator area.  Pictures on the award podium are officially recorded and taken by the event photographer.  NO additional photographers can take pictures of participants while on the award podium.

11. Coach’s Meeting

There is a coach’s meeting on Wednesday July 16, 2025 at the Anaheim Convention Center from 4:00 – 5:00 PM room AR1.  All coach’s are strongly encouraged to attend this meeting to answer any questions.

The poomsae draws for ITFE (Individual Traditional Forms Elite), PTFE (Pairs Traditional Forms Elite), SDI (Self Defense Individual), and SDG (Self Defense Group) will be announced at this meeting.  If you cannot make it to this meeting, the draws will be emailed to participants and posted on our Facebook page.

Only the below Divisions will be subject to video replay/arbitration:

  1. Authorized Poomsae Individual (Individual Traditional Forms ELITE)
  2. Authorized Poomsae Pair (Pair Traditional Forms ELITE)
  3. Creative Poomsae Individual (Individual Creative Forms without Weapons ELITE)
  4. Creative Poomsae Group (Team Creative Forms without Weapons ELITE)
  5. All-round Breaking (Individual Creative Breaking ELITE)
  6. Side Kick Breaking (Individual Power Skipping Side Kick)
  7. Back Kick Breaking (Individual Power Back Kick)
  8. Knife Hand Breaking (Individual Power Knife Hand)
  9. Individual Spinning Hook Kick
  10. High Jump Kick Breaking (Individual Jumping High Kick)
  11. Team Competition (Team Demonstration Arirang)
  12. Taekwondo Aerobics
  13. Self Defense Individual
  14. Self Defense Group
  15. Speed Breaking

Only for the above events, if an athlete or coach objects to a referee’s judgement, he or she can make a claim to the Kukkiwon Arbitration Committee within 10 minutes after the competition.  The arbitration fee is $200.00.  In order to be eligible to make a claim a coach or Master/Grandmaster must attend the coach’s meeting on Wednesday July 16, 2025 from 4:00 – 5:00 PM at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena.

For all other events, all scores and results are final.  Video replay to question scoring is not available.  If you have a question about a score you may ask to speak with a member of the Organizing Committee so questions can be directed appropriately to the Referee Chairman.

12. Coach Pass

A maximum of one coach per athlete will be allowed on the competition floor.  Discounted coach’s passes is closed.  If you still need to receive a coach’s pass you can purchase at badge pick up for $125.  If you have a coach’s pass you do NOT need to purchase a spectator ticket.  All coaches must complete an abbreviated online SafeSport review that will be provided by the 2025 World Taekwondo Hanmadang as a part of the online registration system. You must be AT LEAST 16 YEARS OLD to be eligible to be a coach. The cost for this review is included in the coach’s pass fee. There are no discounts for additional coaching passes.  Coaches may only be on the competition floor when his or her athlete is on the competition floor to perform.  All coaches must agree to a code of conduct.  Failure to comply with the code of conduct will result in immediate revocation of the coaching pass with no refund.

Please note: During the competition for Individual Creative Board Breaking (ICB) and Individual Creative Board Breaking Elite (ICBE) athletes are encouraged to provide their own holders.  You do NOT need a coaching pass to be a holder.  However, if you are only a holder – you CANNOT coach the student.  If you intend to coach an athlete for Individual Creative Boarding Breaking events you must register and purchase a coach’s pass.  If you are a Para Aide – you do NOT need to purchase a coach’s pass.

13. Friday July 18th Opening Ceremonies and Parade of athletes

The 2025 Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Hanmadang Opening Ceremonies will take place on Friday July 18, 2025 from 6:00 — 7:30 PM.  All participants, families, and guests are strongly encouraged to attend. There will be a live marching band, musical performances, color guard, national anthems, parade of athletes, special guest appearances and a breath-taking performance by the Kukkiwon Demonstration team.

Participants do not need to purchase a spectator ticket to attend.  Parents and guests need a spectator ticket.

There are participants from close 30 countries and 30 states represented at the 2025 Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Hanmadang.  There will be a parade of athletes where athletes will march into the arena by country, state, and Dojang.  All Dojangs and athletes are strongly encouraged to bring Dojang banners, signs, flags and show off your culture, creativity, and spirit.  Athletes can wear special shirts, costumes, face painting, props etc.  Athletes are encouraged to wear his or her dobok and any medals earned during competition.

All participants are requested to start lining up in the holding area at 5:30 PM.  There will be signs for each state and each country.  Dojangs are requested to line up by these signs.  Participants should line up together with his/her Dojang.  Upon completion of the Opening Ceremonies parents can meet their children back at the holding area.  If needed, parents can also march in the parade of athletes with younger children.

14. Parking on Friday July 18th

There will be over 5,000 people present for the Opening Ceremonies.  The Opening Ceremonies will begin promptly at 6:00 PM.  Please allow additional time to park and get into the arena.

15. Athletic Trainers

There will be an EMT onsite for medical emergencies.  There will also be athletic trainers on the floor for immediate non-emergency medical issues (bands aids, ice packs, etc.).  The athletic trainers on the floor are not able to tape ankles, etc. prior to an athlete competing.

16. Volunteers

Join us in creating a memorable experience for everyone at the 2025 Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Hanmadang.  Be a part of history and volunteer and get up close to all of the action.  Sign up for a role that matches your interests and skills.  We need volunteers for scorekeeping, board holding, participant badge pickup, holding area, and much more!  Volunteering is a great way to give back, meet new friends from around the world, and is an ideal way for parents who don’t participate in Taekwondo to get involved.  Volunteers who serve the minimum number of required hours will receive free admission, volunteer t-shirt, and lunch/dinner.  No experience required.

17. Best Spirit Award Medal

All participants that do not earn 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in any event will receive one (1) Best Spirit Medal regardless of how many events they participate in.  For example, if an athlete competes in three (3) different events and does not earn 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in any of the 3 events, that athlete will receive one (1) best Spirit medal (not 3).  Best Spirit medals can be picked up at the Certificate printing/Award podium area after the athlete completes his/her last event.

All participants will receive a ticket in his/her badge.  If you do not earn 1st-3rd place redeem this ticket at the award certificate area to receive your best spirit medal.

If you earn 1st-3rd place you will turn in this ticket to receive your 1st– 3rd place medal

18. Cultural Exchange

The 2025 Kukkiwon World Hanmadang is a celebration of our Taekwondo family from around the U.S. and world. We encourage everyone to bring a small token from your country, state, or dojang to share and swap with other competitors. Items like lapel pins of things you could attach to the lanyard on your badge are a great way to show all the friends you have met. A good time to share these tokens will be at the opening ceremony, where you can meet new friends from around the world as well as at awards when you get your medals. Be creative and plan to meet new friends and share the spirit of Taekwondo

19. Poomsae Seminar

Grandmaster Jung Hwan Jin is the current USA National Poomsae Team Coach.  He will be teaching a poomsae seminar on Wednesday July 16, 2025 at the Westin Hotel.

5:00 — 6:30 PM — Color Belts.  All ages.  Maximum capacity 100 people.  $100

6:30 — 8:00 PM — Black Belts.  All ages.  Maximum capacity 100 people.  $100

20. Closing Gala Tickets Still Available

The closing gala is a formal dinner to celebrate the conclusion of the 30th Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Headquarters.  The Chairman of the Board of Directors, President of Kukkiwon, other Grandmasters, Masters, Instructors, and dignitaries will be present.  This dinner has limited seats available for purchase by the public

Location: Headquarters Hotel Westin.  Carousel Ballroom

Time: 8:00 — 10:00 PM

Attire: Formal.  Males: Jacket and tie.  Females: Dress or gown

Meal: Adults will have the option of a beef/seafood duet or vegetarian.  Children 10 and under will receive a children’s meal of chicken fingers, French fries, a fruit cup, one cookie, and juice.

Price: Adults $197/person.  Children 10 and under children’s meal $97/person.  Cash bar for 21 and up.

The after party will take place from 10:00 PM — 1:00 AM.  This party is open to the public and there is no cost to enter.  There will be a DJ and cash bar.  No attire requirements.

21. Practice Room

Practice space is available for Dojangs/Teams at the Westin Hotel ballroom on Wednesday July 16th.  One-hour time slots can be reserved.

22. Parking

Parking at the Anaheim Convention Center is $25 per standard vehicle per day.  The 2025 Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Hanmadang does not receive any portion of these funds.  Everyone is suggested to give additional time to park and walk to the Arena.
