Referee Application
All potential referees MUST complete the online application in order to be considered to serve as an official referee.
The Organizing Committee is now accepting online applications for the 2025 World Taekwondo Hanmadang (July 17-19, 2025).
TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS
You are responsible for your own travel arrangements to Anaheim, CA. You should arrive in Anaheim, CA no later than 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. You can depart on Sunday, July 20, 2025. (Please Note: If you fly into Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), you will be responsible for your own transportation to and from the airport.) Referees are recommended to use John Wayne (Orange County) Airport (SNA).
HOTEL ARRANGEMENTS
Your hotel room will be provided with another referee (2 referees per room) at Springhill Suites (1801 S Harbor Blvd Anaheim, CA 92802) from Wednesday, July 16 through Saturday, July 19. If you would like to arrive earlier or stay later, the Organizing Committee can assist you in reserving a hotel room at the group rate. However, the cost of the hotel will be your own responsibility. If you prefer to have your own room you will be responsible for half of the room cost.
MEALS
You will be provided dinner on Wednesday, July 16. You will be provided breakfast, lunch, and dinner Thursday July 17 through Saturday July 19. Any other meals are the referees’ personal responsibility.
PER DIEM
All referees will receive a per diem. Details will be released soon.
FORMAL DINNER BANQUET
You will be invited to the VIP Formal Dinner Banquet on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at the Westin Hotel. It is a formal-plated dinner at $150 per person. Referees do not have to pay. There will also be a cash bar available. This event is formal attire. Gentlemen must wear a jacket and tie. Women must wear gowns or cocktail dress. Referees can invite guests but the meal ticket will have to be purchased. Details and link to purchase will be available soon.
REFEREE TRAINING
All appointed referees will be required to review training videos in advance of the in-person training. Attendance is MANDATORY for the Referee Training on Wednesday, July 16 scheduled from 1:00-6:00 PM at the Anaheim Convention Center (room to be announced). The Anaheim Convention Center is a 5 minute walk from the Springhill suites. Please wear a uniform (dobok).
COMPETITION
Referees cannot participate as an athlete in the 2025 World Taekwondo Hanmadang.
AGE MINIMUM
17 is the age minimum.
SAFESPORT
The Organizing Committee is committed to providing a physically and emotionally safe environment for all athletes, parents, guests, Grandmasters, and Masters. Upon appointment as an official referee, each referee will be required to take an abbreviated Safesport training. Each referee does have the option to take the full Safesport course/certification. If you have previously received Safesport certification you can email a copy of your current certification to avoid taking the Safesport certification.
REFEREE UNIFORM
- Black Slacks
- Black Suit Jacket (Kukkiwon International Certified Referees may wear their light blue IR suit jacket)
- White Button Up Shirt (Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve)
- White Taekwondo Shoes
- An official World Taekwondo Hanmadang necktie will be provided.
INTERNATIONAL REFEREES
All appointed international referees will be provided an official invitation letter for submission of a U.S. Visa. Upon receipt of the U.S. Visa, referees are required to send a copy to referee@worldhanmadang.com
APPOINTED REFEREE REQUIREMENT
The organizing committee will provide approval or denial of your referee application within two (2) weeks of receipt of the application. Upon notification of appointment as an official referee for the 2025 World Taekwondo Hanmadang, the appointed referee must email their confirmed travel arrangements to referee@worldhanmadang.com no later than Saturday, May 31, 2025.
If the travel confirmation deadline passes, the appointed referee will forfeit the opportunity to referee, and a different referee will be selected.
The deadline to apply to serve as referee is Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
DISNEYLAND
All referees and their families will receive a discount to Disneyland Parks for entrance July 11 – July 22, 2025. Ticket Store Closes at 9:00pm Pacific time (USA) on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, meaning you will need to complete your purchase before the start of the World Taekwondo Hanmadang.
